Lifestyle Social Market set to be a big hit

This weekend marks the launch of the first Lifestyle Social Market on Saturday, 2 September at the Jack Botes Hall.

POLOKWANE – Organiser and Founder of the event, Lebohang Lebo Monama, said her company, Legacy Lifestyle, will focus on hosting various social events in Polokwane.

“The Lifestyle Social Market is just one of several events we plan to host in Polokwane. Inspiration for these types of events stem from my own experience as I felt Polokwane had nothing to offer me. Late night parties are more common in the city with a loud music and dancing kind of scene, not that there is anything wrong with these types of events, but I felt we lack variety and choice. “We lack a variety of options when it comes to good cuisine and a fun and safe outdoor environment where we can spend time with our families and friends. Lebo added there was even a point in her life where she found herself travelling to Gauteng to get the type of entertainment which best suited her and it was then when she realised Polokwane needed to not change but add diversity to the entertainment offerings.

“We want to bring something fun, unique, relaxing and enjoyable for everyone; be it someone who wants to spend time with friends and family, teenagers looking for a chilled vibe, the more mature residents looking to enjoy the outdoors or even kids who just want to have fun. We want to offer an experience where we can meet vendors’ and consumers’ needs, increase participation and plan for diversity and growth, especially for upcoming and undiscovered talent. We want to provide a place for business and trade, fun community activity and at the same time promote a multicultural social event which is rare in our city.”

She explained this is a business venture at the end of the day and she would like to see this market grow and become one of the most talked about events in the city.

“We hope government agencies see our efforts and lend a helping hand. This market could become one of the tourist attractions in Polokwane if done right.”

Lebo added not only do they aim to empower themselves but to empower the range of talented people in the city.

“If we can uplift small scale farmers and host a successful fresh produce market, we feel we can get to a point where we can preserve agriculture, provide high-quality fresh produce to consumers in our town and increase activity. We have a huge number of undiscovered chefs, bakers, talented florists, craftsmen and -women and performers who can get easy access to a wider range of consumers with the right exposure.”

By cutting out middlemen, Legacy Lifestyle will offer local traders more freedom to expose their products and a more profitable way to sell their items. “We will do our best to ensure displays on stalls and items offered are attractive and over-the-top so customers are encouraged to spend time seeing everything on offer and, of course, spending their money. Our province is so rich in culture and it would give me joy if I could provide a platform for cultural expression through this market,” she added.

“When you know your purpose, your worth, your talent and skills and you work hard tirelessly with passion, you will reach your dreams. It may take longer than you had imagined, it may require a lot of hard work, sweat, tears and sleepless nights but there is no sweeter victory than seeing your seeds blossom.”
