Spend Heritage Weekend at the DSTv iRock Festival

DStv iRock is back and this year the event will be hosted at the Polokwane Cricket Club, a bigger venue equipped with world-class facilities to accommodate over 18 000 iRock fans.

POLOKWANE – The festival will bring music lovers the best in South African dance, house, hip hop, Afro pop, rhythm and blues.

Music heavyweights such as Cassper Nyovest, Okmalumkoolkat, Kwesta, Amanda Black, Black Motion, DJ Mshega and Culoe de Song, among others will entertain guests with their popular hits on Saturday, 23 September.

The 2017 edition of the DStv iRock Limpopo will keep you entertained all weekend, bringing you comedy, jazz, and the iRock Social Sunday to end off your Heritage weekend.

According to MultiChoice General Manager Marketing, Nomsa Chabeli Mazibuko, the DStv iRock launched a completely new experience in 2013.

“We created more than just a music festival, we created a lifestyle. The youth were captivated and looked for ways to be a part of the experience in a bigger way. We then developed and implemented the iRock Ambassador Programme which employs over 100 youth in the area. Each year the festival gets bigger and more exciting and we have seen enormous growth in terms of festival attendance, awareness and excitement around the DStv iRock brand. But more than that, the DStv iRock music festivals continue to give us the opportunity to empower the youth and uplift the communities which we operate in,” Nomsa said.

This year’s iRock Limpopo Music Festival is presented by DStv in association with Standard Bank, Hunters, Polokwane Local Municipality, Mall of the North, Limpopo Tourism Agency and Daily Sun.

Aspiring musicians are invited to be part of the lineup by entering the DStv iRock Battle for the Stage talent search. Keep an eye on the DStv iRock social media platforms for further updates.

Main event tickets are on sale for R150 general access, R250 (buy one get one free), and VIP Early Bird at R2 500 for two (includes a bottle of Bisquit, Cruz Vodka and mixers).

Gates at the Polokwane Cricket Club will open at 12:00 on Saturday, 23 September.
