King Salama rocks the house

The local house music artist is set to make waves in the local music industry

POLOKWANE – Promise Molewa (23) is a shy, but passionate and active performer on stage and is managed by Fathaland Management Productions.

In 2015, he began performing at local pubs, for free, to put his name out there as a local artist. “I used to perform in return for drinks at local pubs, that’s how I became known in Kgapane,” he said.

Promise’s manager, Moses Hlapa, noticed him in 2017 and saw potential, passion and a bright future ahead for him.

King Salama is a talented artist, described as being different and unique.“We launched his album at Sun Meropa on 27 May and it was a huge success. We were basically introducing him to the public as a local registered artist and musician. A music video was shot two weeks ago in Johannesburg and everything went very well,” Hlapa said.

Molewa tells BONUS that he is a professional and dedicated artist and does not take any opportunity he gets for granted. “I’m very passionate about music and also make my own beats. I’m my own producer, so whenever I perform, it’s really easy because I can relate to the beats I have produced myself. It’s much easier to sing on a beat you have made yourself as an artist,” he explained.

His manager added that he deals with songwriting, composing, and is also very creative.
“The six singles gaining airplay on local radio stations are on one album, which has 16 tracks on it. And Ndiya is the most-played song on local radio stations, I’m very proud of him,” he said.

Promise also sings traditional house songs mixed with urban songs in the Khelobedu language.
“I always make sure that I stick to my mother tongue, which I’m proud of.”
He has performed at Sun Meropa, the Peter Mokaba ANC Rally in Mankweng, Tzaneen and Phalaborwa.
