Deep love for Dj’ing

Albert Malatji, AKA Mevota-SA, first discovered his love for creating music when his mom gifted him a laptop more than eight years ago

POLOKWANE –  The 23-year-old is a house DJ and a music producer and is one of the talented up-and-coming DJ’s in his home town of Turfloop. He is well-known for having people glued to the dance floor.

“I have been a DJ for more than eight years,” he tells BONUS. He recently started his own record label and is signed under Mevota Sounds, which is still a growing baby that will one day be one of the biggest household names in the music industry, according to him.

The talented DJ says he released a single which was well-received by the public and received air-play on local radio stations.

“I am now working on my EP (extended play) album that will be out probably in December, people should look out for it.”

Albert told us about his journey to the Hunter’s Extreme #Gobold DJ Search Competition. He found out about the competition from his manager in the morning and had to leave home without bathing so he could make the audition.

“I was surprised by the love and support I received from some of the celebrities at the competition, they even gave me the nickname of Miyagi, (Jackie Chan’s karate teacher) as my skills were so good,” he added. He says he didn’t make it to the finals, but believes that it was not his time yet. “God is just preparing me for greater things.”

His goal is to play at one of the biggest Limpopo music festivals such as Irock or First Friday.

And some day his name will be a legacy that will feed his number one supporter, his mother Maureen, as well as the rest of his relatives.
