Suspected swindlers Jennifer Vanesia Deville and Lebone Beatrice Mazongani are expected back in the Burgersfort Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on a charge of fraud after being arrested by members of the Limpopo Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Unit on Monday.
The duo appeared in court on Tuesday and the case was remanded to next week. They remain in custody and are expected to apply for bail during their next appearance, Hawks Spokesperson Matimba Maluleke said.
He added that the Hawks had received a tip-off about the two women who reportedly planned to defraud a bank by providing fraudulent documents in order to withdraw money from a client’s account. The suspects were arrested in the bank while allegedly trying to deceive a consultant with the fraudulent documents, according to Maluleke. He indicated that an identity document believed to belong to an actual client of the bank was seized.
Investigations continue.
