Skip your lengthy morning routine and don a doek or beanie instead

POLOKWANE – Local fashion icon and stylist, Mpho Thole, says he prefers wearing beanies in winter to save time and money on hair styling and products.

“We all know it is colder in the morning during winter which leads to most people finding it difficult to get up for work or school as early as they normally do in the warmer months. I have come up with a way to help with this issue as you will spend less time on your hair. This is especially effective for women who tend to spend a lot of time on combing and styling their hair. One solution is to instead of spending time wondering which direction or how to wear your hair is to simply comb it back and tie it back in a ponytail or fold it to the inside. Then you can rock a doek, beanie or hat over your hair and be ready for the road. Save some time and you won’t be late for work again this winter,” he says.

Mpho adds that he admires individuals, especially celebrities like Boity Thulo (TV presenter/personality), who are not scared or shy to show their different styles to the public with the use of hats or doeks.

“Boity is usually not shy to reveal her winter style. She can rock beanies, hats and doeks any time of the day in a very stylish way, whether she’s on TV or out and about off camera. I, for one, respect that so much; she’s a real inspiration to most women who are still shy to cover their heads in public.”

Winter, he says, will not stop him from being stylish and being who he wants to be through his clothing. “Learn to be creative in winter. Don’t just get creative in summer or spring, fashion does not choose a season, but wants someone who can think out of the box and use their imagination.”
