Democratic Alliance (DA) Shadow Minister of Police, Zakhele Mbhele and DA Shadow Deputy Minister of Social Development, Lindy Wilson, visited the Seshego Treatment Centre, a government initiative of an estimated R107 million reportedly still incomplete since 2011 and destined for its fourth launch date later this year, during a two-day visit to Polokwane the past two days.
Taking into consideration that it would be the only treatment centre for drug dependants in the province once operational, perceived inability to meet demands from across the province, over-emphasis of features incorporated in the double-storey administrative facility, design and interior flaws and lavish spending on furniture for staff quarters were of the pointers highlighted during the oversight visit.
The Parliamentarians were accompanied by DA Limpopo Legislature member Katlego Phala, who said the party would act once it has received feedback from the Public Protector’s Office which they approached earlier this month.
