Persons residing in or running businesses along Devenish Street and elsewhere are advised to make alternative arrangements for water supply as there will be a water shut-down tomorrow (Thursday) from 17:00. Municipal workers will reconnect a new line as part of the project to replace asbestos pipes and the exercise is expected to last for approximately 20 hours.
The shut-down will affect parts of the CBD, Nirvana, Rainbow Park, Ivy Dale and Ivy Park and its extensions. Polokwane Municipality Communications and Marketing Manager, Matshidiso Mothapo said should the reconnection experience challenges and not meet the set deadlines, the municipality will deploy water tankers to provide temporary relief to the affected areas.
Water is currently supplied through a temporary bypass line which is smaller in diameter with resultant reduced flow and pressure. The reconnection will provide a permanent normal supply to all areas affected, Mothapo explained. He further said the municipality apologies in advance for any inconveniences caused during this period and residents who are not affected are urged to continue using water sparingly. Water related issues can be reported to the municipality on 015 290 2629.
