Kwazulu-Natal reign supreme in local golf challenge

After being tied in first place with Ekurhuleni A, Kwazulu-Natal A was named the winners of the A-division Swiss Team Trophy after the fourth round of the Polokwane 72-Hole Team Championship contested at the Polokwane Golf Club during the week.
At the start of the fourth round on Wednesday the two teams were tied on par with tournament favourites Gauteng A trailing close behind with +7. Solid performances from Michaela Fletcher and Brittney-Fay Berger, both finishing with an equal par after the fourth round, turned the tables and Kwazulu-Natal managed to outclass their two closest rivals and secured the sought after trophy with a total score of +2 on the final day.
Gauteng A managed a +4 to cling to second place with the help of Kaleigh Telfer coming in at -2 in the fourth round and Kajal Mistry finishing at +1.
Ekurhuleni A struggled on their final day with Sarah Bouch ending on +3 and Caitlyn Macnab only managing a +4.
In the B-division Challenge Trophy, Gauteng C took the honours with a total score of +28 as Kaiyuree Moodley finished with a +5 and Kelsey Nicholas managed a +7.
Ekurhuleni B managed a total score of +42 to take second place with Free State in third place with +48
Limpopo managed to finish in tenth place for the Challenge trophy with a score +133 at the end of day four.
In the individual rankings Fletcher ended in first place with -3 on the final day of the tournament with Telfer close behind on equal par. Macnab came in third with a total of +3.
Elmarie Fogwell, President of Limpopo Ladies Golf Union expressed her gratitude to all the teams that have come from all over the country and she hopes that they return safely. She further said that she hopes to see all the players again on 10 June for the Limpopo Open and Close Tournament.
