Turfloop’s crowning glory

This young model looks to former title winners as role models and hopes to emulate their success

TURFLOOP – Newly crowned Miss Face of Turfloop 2017/18, Moma Molabe, already has her sights set on international stages.

This young beauty queen has only been modelling since 2015, but she is already making waves in the industry with her beauty and intelligence.

Moma (15) is a Gr 10 learner at Noorderland High School and she credits her success in the modelling industry to her strong spirituality and personality. She has her sights set on various upcoming pageants, among others the Miss Africa Best Model, Miss Teen SA, and Miss Rainbow Nation among others.

“We were all created with a purpose, find yours and make it work for you. Whatever you do, whatever obstacles life might throw at you, remember to never give up, keep on trying, keep on doing what you love,” she advised.

Modelling, however, is just a short term goal for Moma who has her sights set on becoming a lawyer and one day opening her own modelling agency so she will be able to help others realise their dreams in the industry.

“My mother is my biggest supporter and she keeps me motivated in everything I do. She also keeps me grounded by telling me to keep my expectations realistic and staying humble.”

Moma said she grew up looking to Bokang Montjane, a South African model and Miss South Africa 2010, as her inspiration.

Another one of her role models is Basetsana Khumalo, a South African TV personality, beauty pageant titleholder, businesswoman, and philanthropist.

“My family is very supportive of my aspirations and goals, most of all my mother. She ensures everything is always on point and she is my biggest source of strength as my mother, manager, and my coach,” Moma said.

She hopes to be a source of inspiration for others who want to venture into the modelling industry and she aims to encourage youths to be strong leaders and chase their dreams.

“To me, being a model means you should be comfortable with who you are, the way you are and the way you look. My long term goal is to see myself as Miss Limpopo, Miss South Africa, Miss Universe, and Miss World so I could tell myself that I’ve reached my goals and now I can be a lawyer.

Education is important, it creates a magnificent future for yourself which is why I dedicate my time during the week to focus on my education while I focus on my modelling on Saturdays.

Sundays I go to church to thank God for what He has done for me thus far and to ask His guidance on my path and for the courage to continue to do what I love most.”
