Judge Joseph Raulinga is expected to give ruling on his decision to have murder accused Rameez Patel sent for a second opinion at a psychiatrist today (Friday) after a psychologist testified in court earlier that Patel was mentally stressed and not fit to continue with his trial.
Raulinga yesterday (Thursday) allowed Patel to first consult his doctor as he complained about nausea and a headache at the start of the scheduled session. Patel had to report back to court at midday after which the session proceeded until late yesterday afternoon with both the defence and state addressing Raulinga on Patel’s mental state.
It is expected that Raulinga might order Patel to be examined a second time round and would request a detailed report from his psychologist. His ruling might also entail that the state appoint a psychiatrist of their choice to evaluate Patel.
