Scott Crossley’s trial to start next month

Police investigations in the attempted murder case against Mark Scott-Crossley have been completed and the case has been postponed by the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court to 12 April for trial in the Lenyenye Regional Court earlier today (Thursday).
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed completion of the investigations. “Members of the African National Congress (ANC) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) were protesting in large numbers in front of the court building today. Public Order Policing Unit (Pops) and members of the Maake Crime Prevention Unit were on standby to monitor the situation but all were peaceful with no incidents reported,” Ngoepe said
A manhunt was launched for Scott-Crossley following the alleged attempt on the life of Silas Mabunda, an employee of an animal rehabilitation centre outside Hoedspruit, by reportedly running him over twice with a 4×4 vehicle in December. He was later arrested in Pretoria after handing himself over to Police. In February he was denied bail and remained in custody.
Scott-Crossley made international headlines in 2004 after he threw a former employee, Nelson Chisale in a lion camp. He received a five-year imprisonment term but was released on parole in 2008.
