Two alleged perpetrators were arrested and another one taken away in an ambulance following an attempted robbery targeting a group of learners on a Polokwane sidewalk earlier this afternoon (Friday).
The group of children were on their way home when they were allegedly attacked by four perpetrators wielding at least two butcher knives. The perpetrators allegedly wanted their cell phones and tried to rob them of their school bags. An unidentified taxi driver reportedly noticed the incident and alerted the Police.
Two or three youths assisted the learners and one of the perpetrators was beaten up. Three of the perpetrators and some learners allegedly fled.  The learners were afraid of the police after having beaten up the perpetrators, leading to the Police believing they were part of the perpetrators.
Two of the actual perpetrators were apparently caught and a third taken away in an ambulance.
No comment could be obtained from Police Spokesperson Lesiba Ramoshaba.
