Clean cemetery before Easter, vows Muni

This resting place will be as good as new before Easter, says Municipality.

THE Mokopane Main Cemetery is already showing improvement as the grass has been cut.

According to the municipality, this resting place will be as good as new before Easter.

In the last issue of Bosveld, it was explained that, according to the maintenance workers at the cemetery, they did not receive any equipment to keep it in a good condition and is therefore the reason for the horrific conditions of the cemetery.

The Acting Superintendent of Parks and Recreation and Communication, Jabu Mashamaite, and Mogalakwena Municipal Spokesperson, Malesela Seloleka, invited Bosveld to pay a visit to the cemetery.

“I think that whoever of the workers told you that they do not get any equipment was lying and that they might be too lazy to do their work.

“The reason for the long grass is due to the rain over December and at that time all of the workers were on leave.

“We also sent all the equipment for repairs, as it is old equipment and it’s life-span is coming to an end,” Mashamaite explained.

He further said that the ablution blocks are in poor condition due to the large volume of people who come to the cemetery for funerals.

Mashamaite explained that the front gate is broken due to vandalism by drug addicts.

“All these concerns have received the necessary investigations and we are awaiting feedback from the procurement department.

“We ask the community to pardon us on this matter and we vow we are still committed to you as it is our responsibility to keep the town, as well as our province, in good order,” Mashamaite concluded.
