Extroverted introvert talks shop

This newsreader says she was shy at first but has learned to let go and embrace the craziness behind the scenes at Energy FM

POLOKWANE – “Working at Energy FM changed my life,” says newsreader Lethabo Mohale.

The 24-year-old from Tzaneen holds a bachelor of technology degree in journalism from the Tshwane University of Technology and has been with the station for the past three years.

“During my time at the station, I have learned to open up more to people as I considered myself an introvert. I have learned to work under pressure, as well as turn any challenge into a learning opportunity,” Mohale explains.

She continues, saying, “I think journalism was a calling for me because it was never my first choice of a career path after completing matric. As I was meant to walk this journey, I learned to love it while I was studying.”

Working on radio has given people the opportunity to get to know her better and since she is seen as a success story, she is often asked to be a motivational speaker and steer the youth of her community in the right direction.

Lethabo considers herself a very family-oriented individual and says her five-year-old daughter brings out the best in her.

“I aspire to better myself in the field and perhaps become somebody’s role model one day. Nothing is impossible and where there’s a will, there’s always a way, the sky is the limit for me,” she says.

Seeing that she always puts education first, in the next 10 years she says she sees herself with a doctorate qualification in journalism.
