Seasoned policeman writes up a storm

Maano Sadike's book 'Reflections of the promised land' - is an insightful look into the country pre-and-post democracy

POLOKWANE – You’ve heard of retired policemen and women who take up a variety of hobbies to keep them busy. However, this seasoned officer is not taking it easy; instead, he is penning down his thoughts and writing up a storm.

Maano Sadike is a seasoned policeman who has been with the force for thirty-seven years but this year he is following his long-time passion of becoming an author. His first book, titled Reflections of the promised land was released recently – it is an insightful look into the country pre-and-post democracy.

“It caters for all ages and is written in simple English for everyone to understand. It is not made specifically for any particular group of people,” Sadike explains.

According to Sadike, the book walks the reader through past and present South Africa. It talks about the transition of the country from a colonial to a democracy-driven nation. Sadike says he has always had a love for history and this book reflects that.

“When people read the book, they will be able to combine what they see in the news and what they read. Because ultimately what you read stays with you for forever,” Sadike says.

The book is available for R150 and anyone interested can contact Sadike at 082 721 5257.
