Meet Energy FM’s daring doccie producer

"I am a village girl. My family taught me to be a hard worker."

POLOWKANE – Producer of documentaries at Energy FM, Aletta Bopapa is shaking things up and making a name for herself at the tender age of 23.

Aletta grew up in Ga-Mothapo Makgwareng and studied journalism and broadcasting at Jeppe College. She has been with the station for 10 months now.

“In my job, one needs to stay focused and pay attention. I come across issues varying from very funny to very serious,” she explains. Her job entails going out and recording events, editing documentaries and compiling scripts.

She says she enjoys interacting with people from different walks of life and that working with Energy FM has been a monumental milestone for her.

She says she is a newsreader but working at the station offered her the opportunity to explore other areas of the radio industry. “I never thought that one day I would be a producer but the station has truly changed my life for the better,” she says.

She does not have to look far for motivation, saying, “I am inspired by my parents as well as my pastor”.

Aletta says growing up in a village has taught her to work hard to achieve her goals. “I am a village girl. My family taught me to be a hard worker.”

As someone who is doing well in media, she has advice for those who wish to pursue a career in the industry: “Always know your purpose in this world, you must be enthusiastic to do your work, learn to interact with different people, work hard and take your work seriously”.
