A forerunner in Sepedi-rap music

Sepedi-rapper, Kedlalanice has a number of projects in the pipeline and shows no signs of slowing down

LIMPOPO – The Solomondale-born rapper, Kedlalanice recently completed his new album, filmed a music video and released a hot new single. This hip hop star is making moves in the kas-rap game.

Kedlalanice says his latest project includes the single Kgale re botshela and describes his music as “happy music” which usually carries a message of self-belief to the youth and encourages them to follow their dreams regardless of the hardships they encounter.

The rapper, whose real name is Tshepho Mamabolo, says the video for Mmino will soon be aired and all the finishing touches on the album, Something Nice, have been done.

“The release date has not been set yet but it should be out really soon,” he assures. The 12-track album features artists such as Mopedy, Calandray, Rebecca Letsoalo, and Rose Nkawane.

His career kicked-off in 2008 after he found inspiration from artists he saw perform on TV and he has not looked back since. “Music is my way of expressing my feelings and emotions while I share life-changing stories with my fans,” he explains.

He is a graphic designer and holds a human resource qualification and says the music industry, much like any industry, has its fair share of challenges which one needs to overcome in order to be successful.

“I want to be the first rapper to crack the industry in Sepedi and get the language the respect it deserves.”
