Say allo! to the latest chat app

Google’s smart messaging app Allo is now available in South Africa.

While chat apps have come and gone with only a few, such as Snapchat and perhaps Wechat making a lasting impression, Whatsapp has remained the primary way people communicate in modern times. But Google’s latest offering may soon trump on the popularity scale.

Google Allo works off your phone number and is available for Android and iOS mobile devices.

The app was announced at the Google I/O Developer conference in May, and was billed as a competitor to the popular Whatsapp.

Allo sports regular messaging app features, along with a preview version of Google Assistant – which integrates search functionality into the chat.

Accoridng to Google, this app lets you find a restaurant and book a table, for example, while chatting to a friend about dinner plans.

Allo also features Smart Reply, which lets you respond to messages using suggested responses based on your conversation.

You can also send and receive indicators, emoji, custom stickers, and image sending are all standard features with Allo.
