Movember to give men’s health a rugged boost

Two local men, Aakon Landsberg and Sello Micheal Makakavhule, say they will be taking part in Movember.

November marks that special time of the year when men’s health gets celebrated and supported.

Men from all over the globe will be challenged to grow a moustache for the entire November as part of the Movember Foundation, a movement for men’s health.

There are currently three ways you can raise funds for the foundation which include:

• Grow a moustache.

• Host or attend a Movember event.

• Be physically active for 20 to 30 minutes a day.

Movember starts on 1 November, when you should be cleanly shaved, and then you grow your moustache until the end of November.

Review spoke to David Booth from Cansa Polokwane to see what his thoughts are regarding Movember.

“I think it is a great idea and I would want to invite all the men in Polokwane to come and be a part of this event,” said Booth. He added that every participant who enters in these type of events makes a difference and it is important for the community to come together and support such events.

“I will support Movember because I feel that men’s health is an ignored issue. I believe it is important to create awareness of men’s health in our community,” said Aakon Landsberg.

Sello Micheal Makakavhule said he will support Movember as the foundation takes men’s health very seriously, but in a fun-filled way.

Currently Movember is celebrated in 21 countries for the past 13 years, so make sure you don’t miss out this year, sign up for free at movember.com or you can download the Movember app on your mobile device for more information.
