Plus-size women urged to entre for Thick Madame beauty pageant

Plus-sized women are invited to enter for Thick Madame beauty pageant at Fusion Boutique Hotel on 1 October.

POLOKWANE – This pageant is specifically organised for women with a fuller figure and, according to the event organiser, Mzwandile Nkosi, anyone who is not plus-sized will be unable to enter the competition.

“We came to the realisation that many women with fuller figures lack self-confidence due to the image society has created that only stick-thin women can be considered beautiful. We want to use the pageant as a means to boost their self-confidence and remind them that they are beautiful in their own way,” he said.

He added that they want to give plus-sized women a platform to showcase their modelling talent and encourage them to believe in themselves and accept their bodies.

“Women with fuller figures represents true African women and they should be proud of that. There are a lot of men who admire and appreciate plus-sized women so they should embrace their natural, fuller beauty,” he explained.

This the second annual Thick Madame beauty pageant and Nkosi said they host it every year at the beginning of spring.

The entry fee is R150, both for participants and normal entry tickets. He encouraged plus-sized women from the city and surrounding areas to come and test their skills on the catwalks and embrace their natural beauty.

Entries are still open, for any enquiries, contact Nkosi at 078 8410 545.
