Radio presenter keeps listeners on their toes

With a perfect balance of beauty and brains, 22-year-old Pamela Ditshego was destined for the big time.

LIMPOPO – She presents the Beat Zone on weekends between 15:00 and 18:00 on one of Polokwane’s biggest radio stations, Energy FM.

Born and raised in Mpumalanga, she has proven that she’s not just a pretty face as she is currently studying toward an LLB degree at the University of Limpopo.

BONUS asked her why she decided on a career in law.

“I chose law because I wanted to help correct injustices of the Apartheid era. During that time, women and children couldn’t enjoy the freedom we have today and I want to ensure that never happens again,” she explained.

She has as much passion for law as she does for the entertainment industry.

She said Basetsana Khumalo and Elana Afrika served as motivation for her.

“I’ve dreamed of being a media mogul from a young age. I remember how I’d always stand in front of my classmates and present a TV show for them. Growing up I always drew my inspiration from influential women, women with power,” she continued.

She said it is not by chance that she now works for Energy FM. She explained the station has a knack for spotting talent and they did not make a mistake by choosing her. She believes that through her current career she was given an opportunity to also work with fresh new talent. Pamela added that like most people, she too has her off days. She faces her challenges head-on and reminds herself daily that there is a Higher power at work.

“I motivate myself through feeding myself the Word of God which keeps me humble at all times.”

She describes herself as a girly-girl at heart and follows the latest fashion trends. She explained that she has an obsession with shoes, fashionable designs, accessories and make-up.

Pamela said through experience she has learned that radio, unlike television, takes more effort than people realise.

“One of the challenges with radio is creating a strong bond with your listeners and maintaining that bond because with radio the audience can’t see you, so every word you say counts,” she concluded.
