POLOKWANE – Award-winning Limpopo gospel diva, Winnie Mashaba has been crafting songs that make people dance until dust clouds the air, but this time around she has created a hymn album.
Released in April, the 10-track album was recorded live at the Pretoria State Theatre, and is her 14th album.
“I have a lot of new songs, but no hymns. It was a request from fans to do a hymn album. I’m a committed artist and take time with my music. Fans who attended the live recording in Pretoria took to social media to ask me to release the hymn album and my new 10-track album complies to these requests,” she says.
Winnie says she has been working closely with the Polokwane Correctional Services for the past six years as part of her social responsibilities.
“In Gauteng, we partnered with Reabetswe Leditsala, where we adopted 30 orphans. We are giving back to the community,” she says.
“I want to live a legacy and build the ‘Winnie Mashaba Morale Regeneration’ to teach the youth about music and responsibilities. I want to do my own documentary,” said Mashaba.
