Milly’s hair care tips and tricks

Hair dresser, Millicent "Milly" Motolla, teaches us how to treat the Glue Razor cut hair style

POLOKWANE – Milly, as she is known, says people must apply hair food to the hair piece at least once a week to soften and moisten it.

She says doing this will also give the hair a shiny look. She advises that clients do not cover the head when they sleep to prevent sweat from loosening the ‘bonding glue’ used to keep the hair together.

“The hair can last for four to six weeks if treated with care,” she says.

Milly also explain how to use a ‘fork comb’ as it makes it easier to create different styles and also gives the hair volume.

Asked her what kind of hair piece is best suitable for a Razor cut, she says “Femi hair gives good results because it is flexible and allows you to style the hair differently without the use of electronics.” She says it is affordable and although it’s curly you can also switch to straight hair by combing it.

She is the owner of Milly Hair Do Salon in Polokwane, located at 72 Market Street. The salon offers styles such as razor cut, bonding, lace weaves and braids. The sweetheart from Ga-Mothiba, says she would like to open her own shop and get extra hands to help her so that she can meet the demand of her clients. “Hairstyles say a lot about our personalities, we use it as a way of expressing ourselves while others do it simply to enhance their beauty.”

She says whatever the reason for their choice in hairstyle, “it plays a big role in our lives.”

Milly says she started styling hair professionally in 2008 and has never looked back.

“My long term goal is to open a hair dressing academy to share my knowledge and skills with other aspiring hair stylists.”
