‘Babalas’ video a hit in N’wamarhanga

Babalas, the hit single by DJ Gami Swaga, finally has a music video

LIMPOPO – The video was shot and directed by DJ Brian Rikhotso of Munghana Lonene FM’s (MLFM) popular breakfast show, Phaphama.

There were guest appearances by SABC 2 weather woman, Tirhani Mabasa, artist, Soshangaan, DJs Bizo Buzza and Clivovo from Giyani Community Radio, and an appearance by DJ Nokzy.

Babalas cemented DJ Gami’s status as the winner of the MLFM Best Xitsonga House track in 2015. The song has already set new records by being the number one song on four different radio stations at the same time.

The song, which features Mozambican singer, Xipanere, is a fun, tongue-in-cheek song about a woman who bids her husband farewell as she has friends waiting for her at a drinking place. The husband refuses to be left behind and goes along with her.

“The video was what I had envisioned and more. Involving the community was very important to us as they played a big role in the song’s success,” Gami explains.

Gami hopes that the video will put his impoverished community on the map and hopefully assist in bringing the development it needs.

“The 60s themed video is of the highest quality, and the final product will showcase originality and creativity to match the quality of the song,” says Akani Malungana of A-images.
