The perfect vehicle for the business, outdoorsman

Local established attorneys, Corrie Nel and his son Tiaan from Corrie Nel & Kie Attorneys got the opportunity to drive around in the new Ford Everest 3.2 TDCi Limited 4x4, courtesy of BB Polokwane Ford.

POLOKWANE – BB Polokwane Ford New Vehicle Sales Executive, Deon Boshoff, highlighted a few of the features and functions of the Everest 3.2 TDCi Limited:

•  One of the two top-spec Limited versions which come with optional LED daytime running lights and 20-inch alloy wheels.

• Comes with a six-speed automatic gearbox in Ford’s Cool White solid paint coat.

• Sophisticated black clad interior, leather-trimmed door panels, seats and facia, to the large, multi-coloured infotainment display and comprehensive multifunction steering wheel.

• Powered by the Ford 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbodiesel engine –  147 kW of power, this power unit delivers 470 Nm of torque between 1 750 and 2 500 rpm.

• The convenience and safety items such as adaptive cruise control and active pre-collision warning systems are fitted as standard and the Limited model comes with additional lane-change assist and blind-spot monitoring.

• Limited models has electronically operated front seats and tailgate.

• The Terrain Management System allows the driver to seamlessly switch between all-wheel-drive and regular drive modes – it offers an additional sand mode, which dials in a more aggressive torque transfer between the front and rear wheels and heightens throttle sensitivity in order to maintain crucial momentum.

• The new Everest has coil springs at the rear. Combined with the SUV’s additional mass that rests predominantly on the rear axle, it adds a welcome sense of balance and composure to the package.

• The speed-adjustable hill-descent control, together with an electric locking rear differential, is standard fitment throughout the range with Ford claiming 225 mm worth of ground clearance with runner boards fitted and a class-leading wading depth of 800 mm.

Corrie said what he found most impressive about the interior is the impressive noise reduction. He said although the noise from the sporty five-cylinder diesel engine can be heard when driving at higher speeds, it is not disturbing at all. He praised the solidness of the interior and overall package of the new Ford Everest.

“I like the overall package and sturdiness of the Ford Everest Limited model, the car handles well for its size. The seating is very comfortable and could provide for an ideal vehicle for a long distance trip and should not leave you too exhausted after a long drive. For me, it is a perfect vehicle for families who would like to explore the great outdoors in abundant luxury and safety,” Corrie said.

Tiaan also got a chance to put the vehicle through its paces; “For a large vehicle to handle like this certainly shows Ford has done its homework on how to create an SUV that can handle tight corners with ease. The steering response feels positive and like SUV’s of this kind, it provides a clear sight of the road ahead because of its high seating positioning,” Tiaan.

Tiaan was also greatly impressed by the ease of switching between driving modes from within the cabin.

Both Corrie and Tiaan said the new Ford Everest is a comfortable vehicle and is ideal to comfortably take a group of people on a dirt road excursion in absolute luxury and safety.

The price for the new Ford Everest line-up ranges from R645 000 to R698 900.
