Meet Polokwane’s next top model

The young model, Phuti Daniel Maholo, dreams of travelling to Europe and Asia to pursue his modelling career

POLOKWANE – The 24-year-old from Seshego says although his dream might take a while to become a reality, he is working hard to make sure it comes true.

Daniel, who only started modeling this year, says he is a runway and photo shoot model. He featured in the Polokwane Fashion Show and the first annual Limpopo fashion weekend earlier this month.

“The whole experience was amazing. Meeting and networking with local designers and other models gave me a change to market myself while the local talent gained exposure to a larger audience,” he says.

He loves dressing up because fashion is how he expresses himself and says it distinguishes him from the rest.

His other goals include being an ambassador of a big brand such as Calvin Klein and he wants to gain recognition for his modelling on an international level.

“I find inspiration from internationally acclaimed South African model, Mac Phiri, and I would like to work with him someday. It is people like Phiri who restore hope within me and gives me the assurance that anything and everything in life is possible if you work hard to achieve them. It helps me dream beyond everything I have now.”

The civil engineering student is venturing into fashion design because of his love for great fashion and clothes and is now studying fashion design at Rerite Modelling Academy in Polokwane.

“I usually alter my own clothes to give them unique features to ensure I stand out in a crowd.”
