5FM duo finally makes it to Polokwane…on foot

It's been a hectic two weeks for 5FM’s Nick Hamman and Mike "Mad Money Mike" Bossinger, who walked from Johannesburg to Polokwane

POLOKWANE – New kid on the block, Linda Mbuso has been driving behind the pair as they tracked along the R101 road.

The duo reached the city today ahead of the station’s Small Town Live Loud, which kicks off at Jembe Tavern today.

They broadcast the show live from the road during their walk, and also interacted with members of the public along the way.

The duo said they love adventures, but the walk has been more than that.

“We wanted an adventure, but we also wanted to share that adventure with South Africa, so broadcast Hamman Time everyday and we’ve been sharing the stories of the people and the places and reminding everybody how beautiful this part of the world is and all of South Africa,” said Nick.

Nick said he hoped the walk inspired South Africans.

“We are not athletes, so if we can do this you can do anything. If you decide you want to do something, plan it properly and remember that it takes a lot of hard work to get to the end of any great journey. A lot of people just never start and a lot of people who start just never finish,” he said.

By the time Nick and Mad Money Mike reached Polokwane, three people had joined the walk.

One of them is Ronald Jele, who joined the duo three days ago in his hometown of Mokopane.

Jele said he was moved when he heard about the walk, and was inspired when the two made it to Mokopane.
