Refilwe is crowned Little Miss Galaxy 2016
Local model, Refilwe Malatji's (11) dream came true on Monday when she was crowned Little Miss Galaxy 2016
POLOKWANE – She was also crowned the top model.
The pageant was held in Kutaisi, Georgia.
“It was nerve wrecking. As it was my first time, I thought anything could happen,” Refilwe said.
Her mother, Sbongile, said she was on the edge of her seat until she heard the announcement.
“It was so wonderful to hear my child’s name announced as the winner. As soon as we got back to the hotel, I let my husband, Isaac, and her brother and sisters now. But I played a trick on Isaac, telling him that Fifi was crying her heart out like a baby, as she was not crowned a princess. Isaac was sad for her, and the next moment I screamed she won. He was so happy,” she said.
Refilwe started modelling when she was nine years old, and is part of the Limpopo Beauty Modelling Agency.
Asked what was next for her, she said she was focussing on Limpopo Top Model, which takes place in May.
“We would like to thank Irina Papazova, Mr Galaxy who assisted the South African delegation throughout the pageant, as well as Amanda Kriel, the national director and international jury representative for Little Miss Galaxy. Their help is appreciated,” said Sbongile.
