Meet the number one sneaker head

Desmond Des Lesudi says he does not compromise when it comes to shoes

POLOKWANE – “My shoe game is always on point regardless of the occasion, I can’t afford to disappoint myself,” he explains.

The Moletjie-born sneaker head says he is probably the number one sneaker fan and collects a new pair at least every month.

Review Bonus chats to him about his love for sneakers while he also gives tips on how to improve our “shoe game”.

Des says his choice of fashion goes hand in hand with the type of shoes he wears, and shoes can tell you a lot about an individual because they are the first thing you notice when you meet someone and he aims to leave an impression.

He says his favourite brand at the moment is the Adidas Yeezy 750 boots (designed by American rapper, Kanye West) because it is trending worldwide.

Des says he loves everything from Yeezy including their wrists watches because they are fashionable, the brand never runs out of creative designs, and they are always on point.

Des loves Nike sneakers and his personal favourite is the Nike court purple Air Max Uptempo, which he recently added to his collection. “I love those shoes, the design and comfort is amazing. I want shoes which I feel were especially designed for me and Nike offers me just that.” He confesses that he had to save for quite some time to buy a pair.

The BA media graduate says although he is not picky when it comes to colour, he loves grey, red and black because they complement his skin tone. He prefers casual wear and his style changes from time to time depending on the trends.

“I keep up with the trends and I want to be a part of a movement which communicates and expresses themselves with the way they dress.” He says fashion is universal so it’s easier for people to understand whatever message one is trying to portray.

Des, however, does not only collect sneakers, he loves collecting accessories such as caps, watches, man bags and backpacks. He says you can use accessories to give any outfit a fresh feel.

He prefers wearing skinny pants because they complement his sneakers and makes them stand out. “And there will be no ‘Nyaope boys’ trying to ‘two finger’ your cell phone or wallet because they are too tight,” he jokes.
