Mahindra KUV100 an SUV ideal for the younger driver

Mahindra will launch its brand-new KUV100 light crossover in South Africa around June or July this year.

This new vehicle is designed to appeal to the young drivers of the world and comes in either five- or six-seater configurations, meaning it will be especially suitable for those with a large circle of friends.

The KUV100 is powered by Mahindra’s mFlacon powertrains.

The first power unit is a small 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine delivering 61 kW and 114 Nm of torque but for those who are more fuel conscious there is a more economical diesel engine of the same configuration which produces 57 kW and 190 Nm.

Both of these engines are paired with a five-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels with stop-start technology and an Eco-driving mode.

Clearly the main focus of the KUV100 is to be as fuel efficient as possible but patrons will also have the added benefit of ABS and EBD as standard.

The higher specced K8 will come with even more safety features in the form of dual front airbags also available as optional extra for the lower tiers.

Other options on the KUV100 will include front and rear armrests, electrically-adjustable mirrors, multi-function steering wheel and a multimedia system with Bluetooth support.

The KUV100 is expected to be available at Mahindra dealerships in South Africa in the second half of the year.
