Skincare and make-up tips for Spring

Review asks Hendi, an aesthetic and integrative therapist at Rénové Aesthetics, about some skincare tips for spring.

POLOKWANE – The importance of taking care of your skin has been proven and with spring around the corner it is necessary to highlight the changes in skin due to seasonal weather.

Colder temperatures in winter are well-known for drying out skin as it leaves it flaky and itchy, whereas in the warmer months, your skin produces more oils. It is also not bad to expose your skin to the sun as it is a good source of vitamin D, but it is important to protect it while doing so, says Hendi Erwee.

Review asks Hendi, an aesthetic and integrative therapist at Rénové Aesthetics, about some skincare tips for spring:

– a basic skincare routine is a must have – it cleanses, protects and repairs the skin.

– it is import to use a skincare range that perfectly suits your skin type

this will prevent skin problems and long-term damage due to using the wrong product. To be able to know what you need, it is wise to get your skin tested by a well-trained and well-experienced therapist.

– the most important product to have for spring is sunblock

In our harsher climate, correct SPF level sunblock is of utmost importance as the SPF protects your skin against radical breakdowns.

– do not to neglect your neck when applying skincare products.

“The neck ages fast and does not react as fast to anti-ageing treatments as facial skin”

It is vital to apply your product both on the front and the back of the neck.

Hand care

Winter conditions are also harsh on your hands, leaving the skin feeling tight and dry. “Hands are often forgotten until we see age spots and wonder where they came from. This is usually due to prolonged sun exposure,” explains Hendi.

She says your hands need just as much protection as the rest of your skin because we wash our hands more often than other parts of the body.

Using handcream will keep your hands moisturised and soft.

Make-up:

Make-up is another important factor in skincare. Having a good foundation which is best suited to your skin type will protect your skin from pollution and the sun, it will also help balance your skin.

Hendi says some foundations will stimulate pigmentation and sensitivity, so users must ensure they get the right one for their specific skintype.

These tips can help to get the best skin for spring:

• drink lots of water, it will keep your skin hydrated;

• eat healthy;

• remember to take time out for yourself as stress can lead to skin problems; and

• moisturise daily and keep skin clean and hydrated at all times.
