Vuwani ‘shutdown’: cops shoot and injure protester

A 25-year old man was rushed to the Elim Hospital after he was allegedly shot by the police (public order division) with live rounds.

LIMPOPO – A 25-year old man was rushed to the Elim Hospital after he was allegedly shot by the police with live rounds.

The victim, a member of the Pro-Makhado task team, was shot in the leg during the demarcation clash at Vuwani on Monday afternoon.

The area has been in total shutdown since Sunday,  learners are unable to go to school as all public transport operating in the area has be stopped until further notice.

Rioters were protesting against the Municipal Demarcartion Board Chairperson, Jane Thupana’s announcement on radio that Vuwani, Malamulale and the surrounding areas are going to fall under the new municipality that is going to be formed.
