LIMPOPO – Dream Census 2015 was the place to be for people who wanted to turn their dreams into a reality recently.

This was an awareness campaign by the Ithuba Trust to let people know that Lotto is under new management.

Individuals stood a chance of winning R1 000 every hour for five hours towards their dream of choice. The three-day event took place at the Limpopo Mall in Polokwane.

Ithuba Holdings is the official operator of the National Lottery. Ithuba Holdings is a privately-owned South African company founded by the Zamani Equity Fund and is registered with the companies intellectual property commission (CIPC) in accordance with the Companies Act, 71 of 2008.

In 2013, Zamani’s leadership identified an opportunity to extend its strong management philosophy to provide a national service, and as a result formed Zamani Gaming as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) through which to bid for the licence to operate the South African National Lottery. Zamani Gaming attracted a consortium of credible broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) and high profile investors to create Ithuba Holdings Proprietary Limited (RF), which was awarded the third National Lottery Licence, effective from June 2015.

Nombuso Guliwe, the manager of the event, explained how the dream census worked. “People collect forms from us and fill them in; they also get tickets for our daily draw. After that our promoters capture their details and their dreams on the website where one lucky person wins R1 000 every hour for five hours. This does not end there, we will have another draw four weeks from now were one person from Limpopo will win R50 000,” Guliwe said.

Linah Ramakgasa was one of the people who entered the Dream Census 2015 and she said she was excited about it. “My dream is to become a receptionist and I hope I win so that I can make this a reality,” Ramakgasa said.

The money the winners receive is not a cash prize but a voucher that can be spent as cash at various stores. The grand prize draw takes place four weeks from now and the lucky individual will be notified via SMS.
