Residents of Polokwane are excited about the first-ever Color Run in the city that will take place at Mitchell House on Saturday.
POLOKWANE – Residents of Polokwane are excited about the first-ever Color Run in the city that will take place at Mitchell House on Saturday.
There will be four colour stations during the race: red, blue, green and yellow and the run will start and end on the sports field of Mitchell House.
There will also be a water point along the route.
Health and safety of Color Run products
Review spoke to the organisation behind this popular event after some concerns were raised by citizens about the health and safety of the product used to colour the faces of athletes.
Trevor Latimer, national project manager, assured participants about the health and safety aspects of the Color Run.

The Color Run™ has hosted more than 500 global events with more than four million participants and is committed to staging safe and secure events.”
He said the powder that are use for athletes’ faces is sourced from India from a supplier that produces powder for the massive The Holy festival in that country. The powder is known as ISO 9001-2008 and certified as 100% non-flammable.
“We can guarantee that the safety of all our runners is paramount. We submit all of our event planning to the local branch of the The Journal of Organic Chemistry (JOC) for approval before each event.
“At each event we follow full l JOC protocols locally. In fact there are many more facets of runner safety that are addressed at each event, including on site emergency medical standby,” explained Latimer.
