Meet the new Faces of Polokwane 2015

Aspirant beauty queens and kings in the province gathered at the Library Gardens auditorium to compete for the Face of Polokwane title on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – Aspirant beauty queens and kings in the province gathered at the Library Gardens auditorium to compete for the Face of Polokwane title on Saturday.

The pageant, which was presented by the Face of Limpopo 2015 runner-up, Maite Makgato, aimed to groom young people in the province and introduce them to the modelling industry.

Makgatho has been in the modelling industry for five years and she is running her own modelling agency known as Sweet Best Models. She has also won quite a number of pageants since she started modelling and said she now aimed for international beauty pageants.

The Face of Polokwane beauty pageant was for both men and women aged from 13 to 25.

“The main aim of this competition is to groom young people in the province. To take them off the streets and introduce them to the world of modelling.

“I have noticed that many young people in our society give up on their dreams because they struggle to get help when they need it and this leads to the use of drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and illiteracy, among other things,” Makgatho said.

The crowd was entertained by performances by local artists such as Muzo Brothers, Mopedy, MpIII, DJ Xtreme SA and Kwenisto Makgakga. The pageant was sponsored by ICollege, Sweetbeats Productions and T-Square Designs, Malwela Photography and Connies Beauty and Nail Bar.

The entrants did not have to pay to participate, but spectators were requested to R30 at the door to watch the pageant.

Makgatho further urged models to stand their ground and continue to do what they loved the most in order to reap good results in the future.
