LIMPOPO – ROYAL Gardens in Thohoyandou will once again play host to the fourth installment of the Phalaphala FM Royal Heritage Festival on September 12.

One of the festival organisers, Shandu Nesengani says for the first time in the history of the festival, there will be a competition where the public can select the artists they want to see on stage.

“All they have to do to enter the competition is send an SMS to 47152 with the keyword ‘Phala’ followed by a space and the name of the artist they want to see perform. For example ‘Phala Casper Nyovest’,” says Nesengani.

He adds that the competition winners stand a chance to win an all expenses trip to the festival.

SMSes cost R2 and no free SMSes apply.

The festival hosts a Children’s Day annually, where R30 000 is donated to a local school. Proceeds from the competition will go towards this initiative.
