POLOKWANE – SAMA Award winning jazz and Afro-pop singer, Judith Sephuma, returns home to Polokwane for an intimate concert for her local fans at Sun Meropa on Saturday, June 20. Fans can look forward to seeing her perform songs from her recent album, One World.

Raised in Polokwane, Sephuma has been immersed in the local music scene since she won the best jazz vocalist award at the Old Mutual Jazz Into the Future competition in 1999.

She was signed to the South African division of BMG shortly after that and went on to produce two critically acclaimed albums, A Cry, A Smile, A Dance, and New Beginnings.

With five studio albums, two live DVDs and two live albums including a gospel album that has reached gold status, she continues to impress the world with her talent and versatility. It is now four years since the release of her jazz album, I am a Living Testimony.

For her new album, which she describes as “funky Afro-jazz”, she worked with songwriters from South Africa, Congo, Mozambique and Los Angeles.

“Fans are in for a real treat when Sephuma returns to Polokwane this month. It has been some time since she has performed live in our city. We look forward to welcoming her back,” says Raksha Gunpath, the public relations and promotions manager at Sun Meropa.

The concert will take place at the Sun Meropa conference hall. Doors will open from 19:30. Tickets cost R100 and are available at the casino’s cash desk or at the door.
