This is DJ Darque’s Africa

MOLAPO Malatjie (23) better known as "Darque" is fast becoming a versatile house DJ and music producer in South Africa and abroad.

LIMPOPO – MOLAPO Malatjie (23) better known as “Darque” is busy cooking up hot tunes in the studio. The producer from Seshego is fast becoming a versatile house DJ and music producer in South Africa and abroad.

He already has a number of albums that he produced and compiled under his disco biography such as Rare Earth Elements, Deep Forest Session 1 and 2 mixed by Jaguar Paw and Jungle Fever Vol 1 and 2 mixed by Wishing Soul and Kaleido.

“My album is titled TIA, which is an acronym for This is Africa . It is a house album in collaboration with African artists and a little bit of international artists. This album signifies the strength of African music and carries a very strong message of unity. Africa can unite through our urban Music. The album will contain 11 tracks. The single, Yonke featuring Toshi is doing well on the charts. The album will be ready in September. It took me 18 months to package this album, and it will be released by Deepforest SA Records,” said Malatjie. He became a full-time DJ in 2012 after some years of music production. “My biggest break came when I produced the hit single, Inhliziyo Yam. I have worked with artists like Black Coffee, Demor, Bucie and Kaylow. My main goal as a DJ is to reach gold status in album sales. The album is almost a first of its kind, it’s a bit different coming from the last album. I plead with my fans to help TIA reach gold by purchasing a copy of the album when it drops. I would really appreciate that and I would give back to my people who support me,” he said.
