From shack to 4-roomed house

LIMPOPO – THE Revelation Christian Church banished the cold by donating a four-roomed house to a disadvantaged woman, Francinah Mulima, who was previously living in a one-roomed shack with her five children.

The house was handed over during a ceremony held in Mulima–Pfananani village near Elim on Saturday.

Mulima had been living in a one-roomed shack with her children since 2000 when there were floods in the area. She said she applied to the Makhado Municipality for an RDP house a long time ago.

Mulima said she failed to understand why the Makhado Municipality had not given her an RDP house.

“I’m happy that the church came to my rescue.

“I never thought I would get a decent house like this one from the church.

“During rainy seasons, the shack leaked and messed up our belongings,” Mulima added.

Pastor Silaya Famadi of the Revelation Christian Church said it was one of the church’s duties to help the needy.

“One of our church members visited the Mulima family and gathered all the information before reporting back to me. As a church, we sit down and evaluate everything. This family needed urgent help; basic shelter for her and her children. Building a house for the Mulima family was proper intervention,” he said.

All attempts to contact Makhado Municipality spokesperson, Louis Bobodi, for comment were fruitless.
