The German produced luxury vehicles of Mercedes-Benz once again proved to be value for money in every sense of the word after three models won respective accolades during the 2015 World Car of the Year Awards recently hosted at the New York International Auto Show.

It was the Mercedes-Benz C-Class that stood out among its competitors, Ford Mustang and Volkswagen Passat to be crowned overall winner as World Car of the Year.

In addition to that there were honours in four other categories of which Mercedes-Benz captured two. The S-Class coupé received the 2015 Wolrd Luxury Car Award beating its rivals, the BMW i8 and Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography Black LWB.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT was singled out as World Performance Car of the Year over the BMW M4 Coupé/M3 sedan and Jaguar F-Type R Coupé.

A jury of 75 international automotive journalists from 22 countries made their choices from an initial list of two dozen car models that was narrowed down to 12. To be eligible for the overall World Car award, which is now in its 11th year, a model had to be available for sale beginning January 2014 through May 2015 on at least two continents.

It is reported that the jurors noted that the C-Class is built on an all-new aluminium/steel hybrid platform with updated rear-drive powertrains and delivers a refinement, luxury, safety, ride and handling that challenge best in class.

The C-Class is one of the Daimler brand’s best selling models worldwide. Through the first three months this year, the C-Class sales in the United States were 20 943 unit compared to 17 029 the previous year.

Chairperson of the Board of Management of Daimler and Head of Mercedes-Benz cars, Dieter Zetsche was quoted to have said: “The C-Class is a best seller that has always been a trendsetter in the premium medium-size category. This is true for the new C-Class as well. It comes to the starting line with qualities usually reserved for higher-class automobiles – ecologically, technically and also with regard to comfort and driving pleasure. It embodies what we understand modern automotive luxury made by Mercedes-Benz to be and has all the prerequisites to be a huge success.”

The C-Class’s design is elegant and concise with confidence thanks to class-leading technologies. Intricately styled static LED headlamps with integrated LED Daytime Running Lamps light your way with advanced fibre optic technology. The rear design is a study in sensuous simplicity. Angular exhausts flank a small diffuser. Full LED lights utilising fibre optics follow the contours of the tail lamps.

The interior is strictly first class and envelops you in sensuous shapes, subtle textures and high-grade materials. The large centre console features flowing lines that sweep outward from the five circular air vents, giving a sense of space and harmony. The new 3-spoke steering wheel feels firm in the hand with convenient access to 12 control buttons and shift paddles. And the front seat, adjustable 16 ways with three-position memory ensures your comfort in the cockpit.
