POLOKWANE – The sports terrain of Genl Piet Joubert School will hum with activity on Saturday when the Bosveld Auto Club (BAC) hosts its popular Cars in the Park exhibition. According to Dries de Lange, chairperson of the BAC for the past 15 years, this year’s Cars in the Park event is going to be special since it will mark the 30th existence year of BAC.

De Lange says Saturday’s event, which starts at 10:00, will be one of the largest Cars in the Park exhibitions to date, with around 200 cars of yesteryear expected to be showcased by BAC alone. He adds that the motor dealerships in Polokwane has also come out in full support of Saturday’s Cars in the Park event, with at least 30 different dealerships coming to display their latest models.

De Lange further says various classic car clubs from Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga are also expected to come and display their vintage cars.

Beside the numerous cars to be viewed, there will be ample entertainment provided by a host of local artists, and there will also be plenty available to eat and drink. Nguni Pub and Grill will set up a beer garden, the proceeds of which will go to Laerskool Pietersburg’s Ystertjies Rugby Club.

There will also be a jumping castle and other inflatable toys to entertain the children. There will be numerous stalls with a variety of food, drinks and other yummy homemade delicacies to feast on.

De Lange says a highlight of the event will be the the launch of a commemoration book which contains the history of, and other information about, the Bosveld Auto Club. De Lange says people who are interested can purchase this special book for R50.

Good news for Cars in the Park enthusiasts is that entry to this event is free. Later in the evening club members and guests can join in a social braai, and braai packs will be available by the Gereformeerde Kerk-Pietersburg.
