Beach Volleyball action in Polokwane

The Flying Fish National Beach Volleyball Series is making its way to Polokwane this weekend, where the parking lot at the Mall of the North will be converted into Polokwane’s only beach.

POLOKWANE – The Flying Fish National Beach Volleyball Series is making its way to Polokwane this weekend, where the parking lot at the Mall of the North will be converted into Polokwane’s only beach.

“Polokwane will be the fourth leg in the Flying Fish National Beach Volleyball Series after successful events in Durban, Johannesburg and Kimberly. All the events thus far have been very exciting, with amazing skill and talent on showcase. We expect nothing less from this leg of the competition,” said event promoter, Gary Vorster, the CEO of Sports4U.

The series is a national beach volleyball league played through tournaments, featuring 48 teams, compromising of 24 teams of each gender per tournament. The three-day tournament begins with knock-out rounds on Friday and Saturday, with the semi-finals and finals played on Sunday.

Each of the eight Flying Fish National Beach Volleyball tournaments carry prize money to the value of R35 000 to R70 000 for both male and female winning teams.

“Entry to the event is free of charge, and we would like to encourage the community in Polokwane to bring their families and enjoy a weekend at the beach with us. There will be lots of prizes to be won at the event, as spectators will be given a chance to test their skill through a serving competition,” Vorster added.
