Your nappy donation can make a difference

The APD's Nappy Run is a national project that collects nappies for children with disabilities.

POLOKWANE – The APD’s Nappy Run is a national project that collects nappies for children with disabilities.

“We manage 26 disability centres across Limpopo, each with children who need nappies,” says Brian Tigere, a social worker at APD Limpopo.

“There are children who live at home and also need nappies. We deliver the nappies to their homes,” he explains.

APD approaches large businesses such as Sun Meropa, who made a donation of R15 000 last year. Round Table 22 also donated R10 000 to the Nappy Run.

According to Tigere, there are 328 children in Limpopo who need nappies, and although these children receive grants from the South Africa Social Security Agency (Sassa), it is not nearly enough to support them.

“We need nappies of all sizes, from the smallest to medium and large for the older children. We prefer Huggies or Pampers, because these brands last longer,” says Tigere.

To make a donation, contact Tigere at (015) 291 1787.
