Ready, steady, go: lace up for great GWM Nite Race Friday night

The Polokwane Athletic Club will host the annual 10km night race and 5km fun run tomorrow evening (Friday).

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Athletic Club will host the annual 10km night race and 5km fun run tomorrow evening (Friday).

This is the first year that GWM Motors from the BB Motor Group sponsors this popular event, which will see the issue of newly designed medals to the first 300 fi-nishers in each of the races.

Both races will start at 18:30.

The race is run annually by approximately 600 runners and will be run over a safe, well-lit circular route with the start and finish of the event set to be at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Dorp Street.

Water and softdrinks will be available at water points approximately every 3km along race routes.

Prize money to the value of R5 000 is up for grabs to category winners in the 10km road race.

Entries for the races can be done at the race venue on the day of the race from 17:00 until 18:20.

The entry fee for the fun run is R20, while runners in the 10km race will have to pay an entry fee of R40.

It is important for participants in the 10km race to be in possession of a provincial road race licence.

Temporary licences will be sold at the venue for R25 each before the start of the race.
