LOCAL musicians are said to benefit from a music workshop, which will be hosted by the Limpopo Arts and Culture Youth Forum at the SABC auditorium today (Wednesday).

According to the forum’s deputy chairperson, Palesa Makgato, the aim of the workshop is to help musicians learn more about the industry and to help them be more professional and make a living from their talent.

He says several industry stakeholders will grace the event to share their professional knowledge with the musicians. Stakeholders include the South African Music Registration Organisation, which will advice musicians on the importance of registering their intellectual property to avoid being taken advantage of, while the SABC will advice musicians on the criteria used to select songs to be played on radio stations.

“We call on all musicians, producers, promoters and production houses to attend this workshop as we want to create a community of artists and a culture of activism,” he says.

DJ Xtreme and Kenya “Lady Kenya” Maenetja will also be part of the workshop.

The workshop is free and those who wish to attend can send their names to Limpacyl@gmail.com or visit the Limpopo Arts and Culture Youth Forum Facebook page.

Alternatively, you can phone 073 917 2998 for more information.
