Rotarians honour those who make a difference

The Polokwane Rotary Club hosted an awards evening last Monday night in order to honour some of the city's outstanding citizens.

The Polokwane Rotary Club hosted an awards evening last Monday night in order to honour some of the city’s outstanding citizens.

The event took place at Ons Tuiste in Suid Street with about 40 guests and Rotarians in attendance.

Giordano Zamparini and Jack Pawson was nominated by members of the club for community service awards in appreciation for their continued support and assistance of Rotary Club community service projects.

Samual Maposa and Bobby Were received community service awards for their dedication and service to the children of the Tough Living with Cancer ward.

Hercule Welman received a community service award for bravery for his quick reaction when he single handedly doused a house fire.

Brian Jones was also awarded a commuity service award for his dedication and service at the Scouts.

Neels Lourens received a vocational service award in appreciation for his continued support and assistance in the Rotary solar energy project.

Hester van der Merwe was also honoured with a vocational award by the Rotarians for excellent service and assistance provided over and above the normal line of duty.
