Sun International launched the new, thrilling SunStriker slots with the sun in its pocket on Tuesday evening at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World.
At 20:00 sharp, a total of 170 SunStriker slot machines went live at Sun International’s 12 South African casinos countrywide.
These included Meropa and Carnival City in Brakpan, where the “big switch-on” was done, sending a ripple throughout the country as SunStriker went live at each site.
Each dedicated bank of SunStriker-themed slots is linked across all of Sun International’s South African casinos so that players around the country can compete for another one of the biggest paying and fastest-growing wide area progressive jackpots in the land.
Following the success of the slot machine, Duma, which was launched in March 2013, SunStriker offers players the chance to win a minimum jackpot of R750 000.

Sun International commissioned South Africa’s electro-pop duo, Locnville, to create a customised version of their hit song, Sun in My Pocket, which will resound whenever the jackpot is hit.
“The launch of SunStriker is most certainly one of the highlights of 2014. It has been 18 months since Duma rolled-out countrywide, offering players a chance to play for a minimum progressive jackpot of R600 000.
“With a minimum jackpot of R750 000, and players pushing it up with every game they play, SunStriker will be one of the largest and fastest-growing jackpots in South Africa.
“Sunstriker is unique to Sun International, with an unforgettable jackpot theme song by Locnville,” said Madelein Ozok, the group general manager gaming marketing.
SunStriker is all about a Mayan warrior whose golden hammer strikes the base of a magic temple to give players the chance of winning the mega jackpot.
Players get a stab at the mega-sized jackpot for as little as R5, with bet value options up to R15.
