MATJIE Mabetlela (16) a gr. 10 learner at Capricorn High School was crowned Miss Seshego at a glamorous event at Ngwako Ramahlodi Indoor Sports Complex in Seshego recently.
Polokwane Express spoke to her about her life.
Express: Tell us more about yourself.
Matjie: I am the oldest child in my family and I have two siblings. I live with my parents. I am a model at Limpopo Beauty Modelling Academy. I would love to own a law firm. I am a kind person, approachable, passionate, God fearing and ambitious.
Express: Why did you want to be Miss Seshego and what do you think you will be able to bring to the role?
Matjie: I believe this title is a calling, but the magnitude of these pageants seemed horrifying at first.
I put my aside my worries and prepared myself for the big day. As Miss Seshego, I would like to reach out to the poor, attend community events, and serve as a role model for young girls, hoping to make a positive impact on their lives.
Express: Which former Miss South Africa inspires you?
Matjie: Bokang Montjane. If a girl from Polokwane could be a Miss World finalist, I can also make it.
She is a part time model and the founder of The Bokang Legacy youth camp, a social community outreach programme.
Express: Tell us more about your family.
Matjie: They are very supportive. My parents taught us never to accept pay for a kindness and never to walk in anyone’s shadow.
They are Christians and always remind us that a family that prays together, stays together.
Express: What do you do in your spare time?
Matjie: I gym, listen to music or go shopping.
Express: What is your message to young girls and women?
Matjie: Save, plan and invest in your future. If you need an iPod, raise funds for yourself by selling sweets and chips on school match day, if might help you become a successful businesswoman.
What you do now will affect your future.
