POLOKWANE – Some of the most exotic sports cars visited the province as part of the 12th Round Table Cannonball Run Africa recently, with one of their first stops being Mall of the North.

The money raised from this event was donated to the QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA), said event organiser, Ross Crichton.

The Round Table Cannonball Run Africa was held from August 7 to 9.

Crichton said the event was much more than just a race. He said it was a motoring adventure, which consisted of testing contestants’ skills, general knowledge and team work.

He emphasised that the rules of the road had to be obeyed at all times.

Crichton said the entrants had two goals in mind: to be this year’s champion and to raise as much money as possible for QASA.

This year, over 20 vehicles entered. Some of the cars that had Polokwane residents in awe were a Ferrari, Lamborghini Galardo and several Porsches.

The contestants competed in events including high speed challenges, skid pans and race track challenges, and the event was well attended at Mall of the North, where part of the parking area was cordoned off.

This year’s winning pair was Vasco and Mandy Ferreirinha in a Golf R.
